THANKS TO BAPS

On 9th June 2004, I received my long awaited letter from Eve telling me that I had passed my ‘vetting’ and that I was now a qualified astrologer. I did not become an astrologer because I wanted to necessarily prepare horoscopes for people. No, I want to devote my time to research.

I first became interested in astrology way back in May 1988 as a direct result of my friend who now lives in Australia. It was she who persuaded me to send away for my own horoscope. My problem then, and in fact until relatively recently, was that I did not have my exact birth time. When my horoscope arrived in the post, although most of it was inaccurate due to my birth time discrepancy, I became totally fascinated with the fact that just three little details could speak so many volumes.

It seemed to me a fascinating subject and, indeed, it is. It can describe your personality, your relationships with everyone you meet (so long as their details are also known), and of course it can show the direction in which your life is heading. I wanted to learn how to calculate and interpret my own chart myself. So I began my journey into astrology by going to the local library and reading every single book on the subject.

When it came to learning how to calculate the chart I could find no information. This led me to contact Russell Grant who was very prominent on TV at the time. He dutifully replied (or at least his office did) and sent me a list of ‘schools’. I chose one at random and began a course. I was soon disillusioned however because they only taught the equal house method, and by that time I had realised that there were other alternatives. Once I had learned the rudiments of calculation and discovered ‘Astrocalc’ and purchased a copy, I gave up the course.

However, I did not stop, but eventually the hospital where I was born replied with my birth time after I had made enquiries from them as this was vital for  learning the meaning of all the different areas, planets, signs, houses, aspects  etc accurately.

A single birth chart will show consistent accurate timing of events by looking backwards, using a mathematical viewpoint. It is then possible to look forwards and time future events with considerable accuracy, which really brings me to the point of writing this short article.

Using my chart as the example, I predicted that a major event would occur at the end of July and the consequences of it would continue into August. This event was concentrated on the Moon, and therefore would be somewhat emotional and/or involving something that would make me feel safe. The other aspects were Mercury, Venus, Uranus, the 3rd cusp and the 8th cusp with a combination of phases both positive and slightly negative. Mercury, indicating a communication, the 3rd cusp either communication or short distance travel, Uranus a surprise or shock element, the 8th cusp joint finances and Venus a partner or close friend. I did not use transits for the timing, only secondary progressions based on my corrected chart.

My husband’s scepticism at my prediction did not go unnoticed, but then we both subsequently received a letter from the company we currently work for calling us to a meeting in Manchester to discuss our redundancy. This left us suddenly in a very tricky situation that necessitated us to sell our house and move almost immediately. All the factors occurred within 3 days of timing - the shock, partner, joint finances, short distance travel and communication, together with my emotional reaction, all happened.  A pretty good prediction bearing in mind it is based on progressions alone!

I still often take a quick look at the rough positions of the transits from the book provided that I used in my BAPS course. Thank you BAPS for teaching me so well and for providing me with the right materials to enable me to predict so accurately!
