ABOUT THE COURSES

Most courses are split into parts one and two and each part has a number of lessons depending on the particular subject. Generally though there are not more than 12 lessons per part.

Part One of each course is designed for those new to the subject, who wish to learn the basics. It will teach you all you need to know about the subject to practise for yourself and enable you to give readings to your friends. The fees include friendship subscription to BAPS and include the Mercury Magazine.

Part Two is designed to take students to the next level and for those that wish to practise on a professional or semi-professional basis. Not only will it teach you more about the subject, it will also teach you the practical issues of setting up a business in an esoteric field. You will learn more about the history as well as developing your own psychic ability to a high standard. Successful students receive a certificate and are eligible for inclusion on the Societies register. The fees include all examination and vetting fees.

Tools are included for the appropriate subjects.

If you are undecided about which course to go for, you could start with Part One of the Psychic Perception course to try and find out what you are most drawn to and then take Part Two of the subject you wish to specialise in.

How long does it take?

The courses may be taken as correspondence, by attending weekend workshops or local tutor (subject to availability). Undertaking the course by correspondence should take an average of two years; one year for each part. This is assuming however, that you have no previous experience of the subject. However fast you do it, will in many ways, depend on how much time and effort you put into the course. It may take you a lot less, particularly if you undertake one of the weekend workshops.

BAPS usually allows two years maximum for each student to complete the course although if you wish to take longer, we reserve the right to implement an administration fee. We are however, always keen to help if you have had reasons why you cannot progress with a course.

Who will teach me?

Each student will be assigned a tutor whose task will be to help and guide you through each of the lessons so as to ensure that you have grasped the principles involved. A series of exercises are set within each lesson which you are asked to submit to your tutor so that he/she may give some helpful comments and to personally monitor your progress.

Please note that for some courses, Part 1 may involve two tutors, one of whom will be a senior Tutor or invigilator. For Part 2 on all of the courses, two tutors are assigned to mark the work and a third person acts as invigilator.

Although your Tutor will be happy to answer any of your questions, it is requested that these be kept within the context of the lesson in hand. Your tutor will not be in a position to enter into lengthy correspondence with each student on subjects unrelated to the work in hand.

You will be encouraged to do some research on your own behalf and your tutor will be happy to point your nose in the right direction. Knowledge gained in this way becomes more meaningful than if your tutor gave all the answers.

How do I find the right books?

The course includes everything you need to learn your chosen subject but it is useful for you to undertake your own research as well. You can buy books, tarot cards etc from the BAPS website at www.baps.ws

Where do I send the answers?

When you feel that you have answered all the questions in the lesson, send your notes to your course administrator. Please ensure that you keep a copy of your notes for your own reference just in case your notes get mislaid in the post. Please write clearly, or where possible, type your notes and make a copy for yourself. All student notes are kept in the strictest confidence. The lesson material becomes the student’s property once it has been paid for. However the course is the copyright of BAPS and cannot be reproduced in any format.

The course administrator will send out your work to the tutor and keep a record of the marks. All work should be sent to the Course administrator at the BAPS address at the front of this booklet.

Please note that the papers will take time to be sent out to the various addresses and it can take a month for you to get your work back, particularly in Part two or over holiday periods. Please feel free to continue with the next part of the course, which will have already been sent to you while your papers are awaiting marking.

How do I pay?

On initial enrolment, you will have been given the option of full payment, payment by credit card or monthly instalments.

On completion of each lesson, the student will send their fee (if they have not paid in full at the start of the course) for the next lesson. The next course unit will then be dispatched. If you are paying by credit card, this will be deducted from your credit card account. Please note that your next lesson may come before you receive the comments on your previous lesson. This is so that you have time to study ahead while the previous courses are being marked.

Although your subscription to BAPS is paid for the 1st year of each part of the course, you will have to pay extra friendship fees to continue your friendship of the Society if you take more than the year to complete the relevant part of the course.

Included in the second part of the course is insurance as a student for the current year.

If you decide for whatever reason to discontinue the course and full payment for the relevant part has not been paid, you will be required to pay any unpaid fees on that part and BAPS reserve the right to take whatever action is necessary under law to claim unpaid fees.

Please note in case of financial difficulties that may cause problems in paying fees, we will always try and help out, but please do get in touch with us if that becomes the case.

Finishing Part Two & Consultancy Vetting

When you get to the end of Part Two of the course, you fees cover the examination fees of the vetting procedures of the British Astrological & Psychic Society. Details of the vetting will be sent out nearer the time but please note that if successful, you will be added to the register of members.

Being a BAPS Consultant will allow you to advertise the fact on your own publicity literature. You will be allowed to work on the BAPS stands at such festivals as the Festival of Mind, Body & Spirit in London. Your details (if you wish) will be included in the BAPS booklet and web page and be sent to media, newspaper, television and radio stations around the world.
